Pregnancy Update: 31 Weeks

31w 3d

How far along? 31 weeks (I do these a week behind as a recap of the previous week, so I'm actually 32 weeks today.)

Total weight gain/loss: 143.6- so although I didn't eat for three days, I gained 0.2 lbs. I'm glad to know my body is doing what it can to nourish my child as I battle this flu!

Maternity clothes: Sorta- Cristhian and I went shopping for some maternity/nursing friendly tops at Old Navy last week during its 75% off clearance sale. There weren't a lot of maternity items on sale, but there were SO many "normal" articles on sale. I'm usually XS-S in Old Navy, so I just bought M. Maybe I'll do a haul. ;) Also, I found some VS yoga pants in one of my moving boxes and have been lounging semi-comfortably in those as well!

Stretch marks? Yes, my boobs!

Sleep: I get up 2-3x a night in order to use the restroom, but I sleep well overall and I'm very thankful for that! Sometimes I wake up at 5:30am and can't fall back asleep... but come 8am, I'm knocked out!

Best moment this week: I'm glad to have: finalized details about my upcoming maternity shoot, started exercising again, purchased a grooming Groupon and booked a hair appointment with a prominent stylist!

Worst moment of the week: I'm annoyed about: having gotten sick for the third time in two months and having realized my body is swelling.

Miss anything? Sleeping on my tummy!

Movement: Lamby moves SO, SO, SO, SO much during the mid-late morning and early-mid evening. I can always count on her!

Food cravings: I guess I feign for carbonated drinks... but I limit myself to carbonated water.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing in particular, but when I get heartburn, everything becomes unbearable.

31w 3d

Have you started to show yet: Definitely!

Gender Prediciton: Lamby's a girl!

Labor signs: Warming: TMI! My BH have started up again... but this time it's focused in the perineum area. Not cool! :(

Symptoms: BH, pelvic pressure, swelling on my right foot only... and that's it! I don't have much to complain about this week! //knock on wood

Belly button in or out? It's in... but weird! It's so oddly discolored, I'm not sure what to make of it.

Wedding rings on or off? On.

Happy or moody most of the time? Since I've gotten sick and have yet to get over it- moody!

Looking forward to: My maternity shoot!! and my upcoming ultrasound to see how big Lamby is since I had a big jump in weight!

Another Uneventful Week.. but with Snow!

Crissy and I had another uneventful weekend. We were stuck inside due to 9"/23cm of snow... Plus we're supposed to get another 32"/81cm of snow as I type this (on Monday night). We constantly received automated calls from the local police informing us of the impending parking ban. Park or be towed! (Luckily, Cristhian and I no longer live in Hartford. I remember during inclement weather, we had to park at the closest school parking lot to avoid our car being pummeled by the city plows. So that meant walking a mile IN THE SNOW to/from the school lot! Yuck! I thank God we moved to West Hartford shortly after and we no longer had this problem!))

I can count on getting sick once every winter- very, very rarely do I ever get sick twice in one season. So when I get sick for a THIRD time in LESS THAN TWO MONTHS, I'm absolutely livid. I won't get started on why or how I got the flu... It's times like these when I feel like I miss my own space. I can only imagine Cristhian's despair...

Zozo and his big ol' beautiful green eyes!

Chillin' in his sister/master's bassinet... ! Don't worry. I plan on deep cleaning everything before Lamby comes!

It's so damn cute how Kuro always buries his head when he's deep in sleep!

On a lighter note, the boys are becoming more and more content with great grandma's house. Zorro's currently the only one who still wails to go to S's bachelor pad... but it'll pass. He's a whiner and that's just his personality. Otie is happiest when he's dozing off in new spots or eating miscellaneous plants... Argh! Kuro never ceases to amuse me with his random sleeping arrangements. Sometimes he's so deep in slumber, he doesn't wake up unless you shake him (He's old! He needs to be taken out to whizzy every 4-6 hours)!

Cristhian posted this picture to his Facebook... but I didn't because I'm cool like that. ;) I made this little collage when we had a fun argument in regards to who Lamby resembles. I definitely see features of both Cristhian and I... like my "button, but not really" nose and his nose bridge! In another 3D ultrasound, you can also tell that she has Crissy's under eye bags. //sigh I guess it's a really dominant trait (all of his siblings have it). My poor daughter might have puffy bags!

How was your weekend?

Pregnancy Update: 30 Weeks

30w 2d. Nearly every picture that S has taken for me has resulted in an orange twinge/cast... We're working on the lighting! The pictures in this post, with the exception of the ones where I'm alone I'm facing forward, is closest to my actual skin color. Be prepared for better pictures! //insertcheesysmilehere

How far along? 30 weeks (I do these a week behind as a recap of the previous week, so I'm actually 31 weeks today.)

Total weight gain/loss: 143.4 lbs- whoops! That's almost a 4 lb increase. I was 140.1 lbs before I had all that sugar this weekend... Whatevs!

Maternity clothes: Definitely. Since my due date is less than 10 weeks away, I'm planning on buying some nursing tops... I realize I don't have ANY! Plus, I live out of my 4-6 maternity jeans... and recently some size 2s!

Stretch marks? Yes! I'm getting more stretch marks on my breasts. The stretch marks on my left breast are between 4 and 9 o'clock while the stretch marks on my right breast are between 3 and 8 o'clock. Also, Cristhian or I have yet to see any stretch marks on my stomach, sides and back... but I know they're coming. Genetics doesn't lie!

Sleep: Restlessness is kicking in! I'll easily fall asleep between 10p-12a, but I'll wake up between 3a-5a and have the most difficult time getting back to sleep. After laying in bed for an extended period of time, I fall asleep suddenly and wake up right before 9a. Good thing my mornings start late!

Best moment this week: I tried on some of my GAP size 2 maternity pants and they actually fit! Although it's more snug than it used to be, I feel good knowing that maybe the weight really IS in my belly! I'm wearing a pair in this week's pregnancy update...

Worst moment of the week: Cristhian and I actually had a huge fight.

Miss anything? I miss sleeping on my back and stomach. Whenever I lay on my right side (which is where Lamby houses herself due to the placentas' positions in my womb), LO kicks up a storm. She really hates being pressed against.

Movement: Lamby moves A LOT! The doctor told me to check for ten kicks for an hour in the morning and another set in the evening. Well, I don't ever have to wait an hour. Lamby kicks, pokes and prods ten times within 15 minutes! Let's hope she stays this active throughout the rest of the pregnancy.

Food cravings: Nothing... but I'm beginning to prefer salty, crispy things again.

Anything making you queasy or sick: It doesn't make me queasy or sick, but I don't have anywhere else to put this, haha. I still don't like meat, but I find it easier to eat. The Bradley Method class that Crissy and I take emphasize the importance of protein- whether from a meat-source or not!- and I'm the ONLY one in class that misses the mark EACH week.

30w 2d

Have you started to show yet: Oh, yes. Definitely!

Gender Prediciton: It's a girl!

Labor signs: None... yet! Not even Braxton Hicks! Woo hoo!

Symptoms: Pelvic pain is still a symptomatic problem.

Belly button in or out? It's... in, but out. It's weird.

Wedding rings on or off? On.

Happy or moody most of the time? I've been moody this week. Things (not related to the baby) aren't going as smoothly as I'd hoped... and it's getting to me. Life of a post-grad student is difficult.

Looking forward to: Packing my hospital bag!!! Plus, I guess I'm looking forward to the possibility of going to Ohio and visiting my parents and youngest siblings. We'll see if the OB/GYN OKs the trip in February!

In preparation of my upcoming maternity shoot, S and I decided to some pre-maternity shots... We have a way's to go! Mind you, what we have planned will not at ALL be as staged as the ones here! I'm still compiling and coordinating outfits between Cristhian and me... plus I need to finalize some of the locations. It's a lot of work!

Movie + Dinner and Dessert with Girlfriends & Hubby + Patriots are AFC Champs = WAHOO!

A, Cristhian and I made prior plans to see The Wedding Ringer... it's just the type of comedy that A and Crissy are into! I recognize Kevin Hart as funny... but I really wanted to see Penny, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, and OLAF, Josh Gad! It was funny... I didn't think it was as great as A thought it was, but it was funny. Crissy and I were joking that he'd need "The Golden Tux" for our Big Fat Cambodian Wedding... Haha?

Next, I have to watch Paddington. I was SO damn excited when I found out there'd be a movie coming out. It was such a disappointment when the movie's US release kept getting pushed back... When it was finally released this weekend, I was wicked wary... but I guess it's really on! Hopefully I'll be able to catch a showing tomorrow.

Mmm... Seafood Chinese Flat Noodles and Seafood Birds' Nest!

After the movie, we four met up to grab some Cambodian comfort food. Nom! E had been talking about mikathang for weeeeeks, but we weren't able to get any last time due to Cambodian restaurants' extreme dislike of extended evening hours. Well, we were there from 4:30pm to 6:30pm... just talking! (Sorry, Cristhian! I know you were miserable... but at least you got to watch the Seahawks/Packers game! ;) )

I'm one of the lucky few. I've had the same pair of friends since middle school. Even when we don't speak or see each other for months, we pick right back up like we saw one another yesterday. Case in point, the last time I saw A and E (with the exception of my baby shower and an impromptu dinner turned crash a few weeks ago) was at a luncheon A threw... I'm positive that was before Thanksgiving. Before that? Ehh. I feel like it might've been my bachelorette!

Ice cream and shaved ice in January?! Yes, please!!

After our extensive talk during dinner, A had the great idea to go for dessert. She highly recommended Snowdaes, a new ice cream/shaved ice joint, and off we went... sans E. Holy cow, the ice cream choices were really good and really different. It's definitely not something I'm used to. It's trendy and not something I think of when I envision our Mill City. Props! We got there at 6:40pm and left at 7:45pm because A and I just got to talking and talking. You can never catch up enough! (Again, sorry, Cristhian! At least we got to watch the Pats/Colts game!) It was a good time though. I'm glad A and I got to really talk.

ANNNNNNND it'll be SO effing awesome to see the Pats go against the Seahawks in February! I'm so excited for my boys! GO AFC CHAMPS!

Aww! Zozo and Oats love Lamby's lamb bassinet!

I'll leave you with this adorable picture of my eldest furbabies loving on Mia's bassinet. YES, I'll wash everything... but it was ao damn cute seeing them sleep in there!

How was your MLKJ weekend?!

My Prenatal Exercise Regimen (or Lack Thereof)

First Trimester

L: ~2w. R: ~3w. The pregnancy tests read negative- so I didn't know I was pregnant!

It was early June and I finally graduated- my kickass summer was beginning. I had tons of outings planned and there was so much to look forward to, but I was incredibly TIRED. I didn't understand why I felt so fatigued. Thinking it was causing me to hit my plateau (I was trying to lose weight, remember? I hit 105-107 lbs and stayed there for months!), I just decided to push through. Three days out of the week, I jogged/ran 5-6 miles and two days out of the week, I did 45 minutes of yoga or Pilates. At the end of July (aka 4 weeks pregnant), I decided to cut waaaaay back. I was so, so, so tired... what the hell! Little did I know my body was growing not one, but TWO tiny humans. It aaaaaall made sense. The time I would normally spend exercising, I spent napping and lazing about using my little lambs as the excuse! Haha!

When I officially lost Baby B at 10 weeks, I was devastated. The miscarriage had nothing to do with my activity level or lifestyle- I didn't even have any bleeding or discharge (and I will push out both lambs in spring because I didn't have a "normal" miscarriage). Anyway, I needed a distraction, so I restarted a basic cardio/strengthening routine. I walked Kuro 1-3 miles every other day and I did 40 minutes of yoga twice a week. I was upset, aloof and lethargic, but I forced myself to continue. In retrospect, I'm glad I did. I was ~114 lbs for 9/8th of the first trimester.

Second Trimester

L: ~17 weeks. (I never went out, so I never had to slab on makeup!) R: ~25w. I spent the majority of the trimester sedentary... I had to be dragged to go anywhere!

I moved to the mother-state on Halloween Day. The weeks leading up to and the weeks following the move were incredibly stressful. I lived off an abundance of take away foods (my best friends included pizza, eggplant parm grinders, egg rolls, etc) and soda. I'll be honest- I fluctuated between 118-133 lbs. #$%* was unfathomable. I decided enough was enough and I needed to cut back on eating out and ultimately restart some sort of fitness routine that was doable while on bed rest. I limited myself to walking at least 2,000 steps per day (because even walking that little caused me pelvic unrest!). Due to poor eating habits and lack of activity, I spent the majority of the trimester on damage control. I started the trimester at ~118 lbs and finished at ~138 lbs.

Third Trimester

R: 28w+3d. I'm a sheep celebrating my lamb!

I'm currently 140 lbs at 29w+3d (I see the light!). I still listen and interpret what my body needs, but I'm determined not to gain crazy weight that is unrelated to Lamby's growth. That said, Cristhian and I started Bradley Method classes and have learned a number of ways to temper the pain. On days when I'm able to move, I try to walk 4,000+ steps! As a result, I feel intense pelvic pain the next day and I'm in bed ALL day, BUT I feel good about my caloric output. So I continue to exert as much "cardio power" as I can every other day. I'm not as active as I'd like... but I know, and feel, that I'm doing everything physically possible. I'd like to finish out the pregnancy UNDER 150 lbs... We'll see!
