In New York City...

Cristhian and I didn't do much this week (since we were emotionally drained from telling our families news about Baby B). Knowing that we had an exhausting weekend in NYC prevented us from really exerting too much energy.

On Friday, S, and his friend, A, made their way to my home in Connecticut from Merrimack Valley. Shortly after, Cristhian came home with his sister, B. We five partied watching American Ninja Warrior... until two in the morning. And of course we woke up much later than we wanted to- we didn't end up leaving central Connecticut until nearly noon! With traffic, we got into Queens at 2. S and A left and went off to Brooklyn. From there, Cristhian, SIL and I were fortunate enough to check in early. After replenishing our systems (and charged our phones!) we made our way into Times Square to meet up with my cousin and her boyfriend. After eating at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., we just walked around Times Square. ... I SO wanted to grab food from The Halal Guys, but the lines for each cart was so incredibly long that I was just like, "EHHHH. WHATEVS!" After parting ways with cousin L and her boyfriend, the rest of us made our way back to Queens. EVERYTHING is open in NYC... it's basically 24 hours all day, every day! We found a Chinese take out spot and bought some 6 packs (and soda for me) and binged in our hotel room. Needless to say, we slept so well!

After getting ready and checking out at noon, we ate some good ol' dim sum. NOM! I haven't had dim sum in sooooo long.

After, we made our way to the 9/11 Memorial. Sad life. Then the Chinatown and Little Italy sections were where we went. We had a deliciously crispy, yet ooey gooey pizza from Sal's. The prosciutto, mozzarella, tomato grinder Cristhian got was also out of this WORLD! It was ridiculous!

Overall, it was a great weekend full of relaxing and semi-sight seeing. Can't wait for the next one!

Pregnancy Update: 13 Weeks

How far along? 13 weeks (I do these a week behind as a recap of the previous week, so I'm actually 14 weeks today.)

Total weight gain/loss: +0.4 lb- which puts me at 114.4 lbs! Hopefully with Lamby's growth spurt, I'll see higher numbers soon!

Maternity clothes: Nope!

Stretch marks? None yet!

Sleep: Yet again, it's becoming increasingly difficult to sleep. I'm not sure if it's due to the drastic change in weather (some nights are in the low 50s, some nights are in the high 70s!)... or if it's because my bump is starting to show... Either way, I've had some pretty restless nights.

Best moment this week: Becoming less picky with red meat and poultry- definitely! I ate a 1/4 of a burger this week!

Worst moment of the week: Rushing into the doctor's office due to severe lower abdominal pain. :( Cristhian and I got to see Lamby again- waaaay before our anatomy scan.

Miss anything? SLEEPING!

Movement: Yes! Sporadically at night when I was 13w 1d.

Food cravings: Nothing out of the ordinary! I still eat as I did pre-pregnancy... minus the constant sweet treats!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope!

Have you started to show yet: YES! But at night, the bump is definitely assisted with bloat.

Gender Prediciton: For the most part, each of our families swear I'm having a boy. Cristhian and I confirmed our results earlier in the week! I might announce the sex of Baby B when we reconfirm the sex of Baby A.

Labor signs: None

Symptoms: My sciatica and lethargy is still the same... I thought the latter was supposed to get better into one's second trimester?!

Belly button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or moody most of the time? Like previously mentioned, I'm pretty neutral. Honestly, I thought I'd be much more morose- thinking and planning is something I thrive on!

Looking forward to: Reconfirming Lamby's sex!

A Growing Family In Merrimack Valley

The family was blessed to receive another healthy baby. Cousin S's wife, P, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Fortunately, it was my weekend up and I was able to visit them at the local hospital.

On another random note, baby bro S and I made our way around a number of gyms. My sciatica and lower abdomen pains have been incredible. I'm hoping to kick my pregnancy pains' in the ass by staying active. (Cristhian and I had to cancel our gym membership in Connecticut because the Massachusetts location is a half hour's drive- too far!)

Pregnancy Update: 12 Weeks

Note: Sorry for the crap ultrasound pictures! Cristhian took 'em with extreme zeal!

12w 4d. "I'm roughly the size of a lime!"

How far along? 12 weeks (I do these a week behind as a recap of the previous week. So I'm actually 13w today.)

Total weight gain/loss: +0 lbs- so I'm 114 lbs! I've gained 5 lbs overall since finding out I was pregnant (at 3w 2d). I have consistently maintained 113-115 lbs for the past 9+ weeks.

Maternity clothes: Yes and no. For the most part, I still wear tops and bottoms in 0s, 2s and 4s (depending on the brand) I fit pre-pregnancy. But there are times when I am so incredibly bloated that it becomes uncomfortable to sit without unbuttoning my pants. I've bought maternity jeans, but have yet to wear 'em.

Stretch marks? None yet! It runs in my family... so I know they're inevitable. I'd just like to reduce the amount or lessen the severity- PLEASE!

Sleep: SO MUCH BETTER than the first couple of months! Currently, I can fall asleep without a problem!

Best moment this week: Seeing Lamby at our NT scan!

Worst moment of the week: The throbbing from getting blood work done- I'm not sure why my arm aches so much! I only had to fill four vials this time. Not to mention I've donated blood more times than I can count!

Miss anything? Being able to exercise without excruciating sciatic pain (where I'm left unable to feel my left buttocks/legs and therefore unable to walk! ARGH!). I've joined the Tone It Up Frisky Fall Challenge. I hope to continue toning even though I have to lighten up my cardio. The days of 6+ mile jogs are gone...

"HEY MOM!!"

Movement: At the NT scan, the ultrasound tech had an incredibly difficult time getting a good shot of the fluid behind Lamby's neck/shoulders as well as its nose bridge. Why? It's because baby felt the constant need to keep kicking and flipping around! The tech kept poking my lower abs like, "Hey you in there! Cooperate!" In return, baby would KICK at her finger and I would feel a surging cramp. Seriously. And that was the pain I felt all Wednesday night! It kept kicking and kicking and kicking! It has since subsided, thankfully! So yes, I've felt movement... and it hurt like hell! (First time mothers don't feel baby kicking until about 17-18 weeks! The flutters are usually a common misconception of gas.)

Food cravings: Nothing- I know! "Weird."

Anything making you queasy or sick: None!

Have you started to show yet: Actually, yes! I have a pooch now! I'm in that weird phase of- "Is she pregnant, bloated from her period or is she just chubby in her belly?" Haha!

Gender: We'll find out in a week and a half since we've gotten our blood work done!

Labor signs: None.

Symptoms: Serious cramping and sciatica issues!! ARGH!!

Belly button in or out? Innie FTW!

Wedding rings on or off? On!

12w 0d

Happy or moody most of the time? I'm pretty neutral. Not exceptionally happy, but not depressingly sad. I'm excited, but trying to think clearly!

Looking forward to: Finding out Lamby's sex!

I had my third ultrasound with the loveliest tech! She was absolutely sweet and so verbose about the activity level of Lamby in my womb. Her words, "I've never seen such an active 12w old in a first time mother before!" really resonated with me. Thanks for being you, kiddo!

Subsequently, I also had my third OBGYN visit today, but it was with another doctor in my OB/GYN's practice. We talked about a few things that were bothering me... It looks like I'm unable to exercise consistently, but I will try to stay active somehow! All in all, everything is good and in the clear! I had loads of blood work done to check for any disorders or defects that my and Cris' mutual German ancestry entail. We shall see!

A Lamb's Surprise!

I've always had mixed feelings about children in and of themselves- I like them; I dislike them; I love when I can give them back to their parents. I think it might be the fact that it's hard for me to establish a personal connection... This is reality. I've always dreamed that I would grow into a woman with a doting husband and two whimsically clever children dancing around our backyard in New England. From elementary to college, my friends would always tell me how they longed for a child and for their families to grow. Given our different circumstances in life, we've talked about acquiring children via adopting, in vitro and au naturale. This is THE dream (and sorta reality). Once Cristhian and I got married, I felt like starting a family was a natural step. Since last year, we've been trying to no avail... that is until now.

Thanks for staging, taking and editing the photo, L!

How did we find out we were expecting? In July, after two weeks of heavy drinking, family togetherness and serious working out-ness... TOM was four days late. Since I've been tracking TOM since 2010, TOM is almost never, ever late. Plus, my boobs were super, super, super sore and I was cramping worse than usual. After a Target run for a few essentials (like a few pregnancy tests), I went against formal education and tested myself that very night on the 18th of July... and it was positive. I was beaming and so incredibly happy... and Cristhian could tell immediately! I took another test the following Saturday morning and it was, again, positive. Wow!

6w 1d

I called my OB/GYN's office the following Monday and was immediately given an ultrasound appointment the next day. Cristhian scurried over after work and we were able to see our little Lamby... At the time, by my tracking, I should've been 5 weeks and 5 days along, but the tech told me by the baby's measurements, I'm only 4 weeks and 3 days. I was given a subsequent ultrasound appointment for the 31st of July. At this ultrasound, Crissy and I were able to see Lamby, who measured at 6w 1d, and even heard its heartbeat- a sturdy 130 bpm. Totes wow. My first appointment with my doctor was for the following day, August 1st. It was just a quick verbal appointment where the doctor explained the 'ness of it all. Plus, she had me get some blood work done. I had well more than the average person- I had to fill ten vials! My second appointment was similar to any routine OBGYN wellness visit. Luckily, everything went well.

For the first nine weeks of pregnancy, my symptoms include the inability to sleep well, serious bouts of bloating, aversions to red meat, poultry and seafood, dislike for sweet things (Oh, God. I know! I can't believe it either!) and preference for salty, crispy and savory foods. I was really dreading morning sickness- it seems like every woman I know has experienced it! Thankfully I've only had a few instance of heartburn (6w 2d for a few hours in the morning) and vomiting (7w once at noon and 8w 2d due to children's lack of hygiene). If this is TMI... sorry!

With just two weeks' change, my symptoms include limited tolerance to chicken and seafood, preference for salty, crispy and savory foods and a serious inkling for peaches (Thank God peaches are actually in season!!). I've even traveled long distances and via plane multiple times- so I know the impending trip across country won't be too bad. Woe are the days when traveling will be made extra difficult. Until then, Crissy and I are trying to make the best of each situation. Also, no experience of nausea or vomiting! Wahoo!

This about sums it up for appointments and the like! I'll start doing the typical weekly updates where I'll recap my experience of the week prior to that "week."
