Pregnancy Update: 27 Weeks

27w 2d

How far along? 27 weeks (I do these a week behind as a recap of the previous week, so I'm actually 28 weeks today.)

Total weight gain/loss: 138.1 lbs- so I've gained 5 lbs over the past five weeks. That's honestly NOT too bad between Thanksgiving, Christmas, NYE and traveling! Plus, I went for an ultrasound yesterday, 12/29, and Lamby measured 2 lbs 10 oz. Wow!

Maternity clothes: Yes! When I'm out, I really like the maternity jeans from Destination Maternity. It's much more comfortable than the GAP ones... (Or maybe that's what I get for buying a 6?)

Stretch marks? No... but I've been scratching my hives. All the old wives' tales say I'm going to get crazy stretch marks!

Sleep: Very good considering! I only wake up once or twice throughout the night to use the restroom. Otherwise, I still get a decent eight hours' sleep.

Best moment this week: I'm ecstatic that my placenta shifted up! I never had previa, but it was scarily close to my cervix. Woot woot!

Worst moment of the week: On Monday, 12/29, I got a molar removed... sans drugs! It hurt like a bitch, but what can I do? I needed that bugger out!

Miss anything? Sleeping on my back and/or tummy!

Movement: A lot! Lamby is a stubborn little bugger and moves SOOOO much (but won't move for daddy or for the ultrasound tech, haha!)! Also, Crissy and I got sick last week... that wasn't so awesome.

Food cravings: Nothing... but I do prefer crispy things this week.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope!

27w 2d

Have you started to show yet: Ohhh, definitely!

Gender Prediciton: The shower is this Saturday! Time flies!!

Labor signs: No BH this week. Woo hoo!

Symptoms: Nothing!

Belly button in or out? In!

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or moody most of the time? Neutral, leaning towards happy- Even with a swollen face!

Looking forward to: The shower!

Pregnancy Update: 26 Weeks

26w 2d

How far along? 26 weeks (I do these a week behind as a recap of the previous week, so I'm actually 27 weeks today.)

Total weight gain/loss: I'm 137.8 lbs! Thank you to the three Christmas parties I attended this week. You added to my misery!! Bahahaha! My weight gain goes in correlation with my growing fetus... and it doesn't make it better that three holidays are celebrated within a six week period. I need to enjoy my family/friend time! Whatever- it's the holidays!

Maternity clothes: Yes! I bought a few items last week and it's been SO good to feel like I fit in clothing. I'll have to trek over to Old Navy some time soon to pick up some tops.

Stretch marks? ... No, but winter is coming...

Sleep: Same as last week! 2/3 of light sleep and getting up 2-3x a night isn't so awesome! Also, I was able to function on four hours of contiguous sleep. Is my body ready for baby?

Best moment this week: I'm still on a high knowing that I passed my glucose test with flying colors.

Worst moment of the week: I hate the constant badgering of, "I need to know if it's a boy/girl." Uhh, no. You don't. I also hate the fact that Ming got me sick! I'm living off Zyrtec and Tylenol. Not feelin' so hot!

Miss anything? Sleeping on my stomach!

Movement: There is SO much movement!- especially at night!

Food cravings: I guess the fact that I can have sweets is very alluring. Since passing my GTT, when we're at the movies, I've been munching on Crunch bars!

Anything making you queasy or sick: The smell of meat cooking isn't ideal... but nom! At least I can eat it now!

Do you like the second picture? It was taken pre-sneeze!

Have you started to show yet: Yes!

Gender Prediciton: TEN DAYS UNTIL THE BABY SHOWER! Time seriously flies!!

Labor signs: The Braxton Hicks have definitely lessened... but I still get them every now and then.

26w 2d. Arghhh! Hives!

Symptoms: Hives reared its ugly head this week. Out of nowhere, my stomach bore these ugly, itchy bumps! After bothering me for FOUR DAYS, I caved and scratched 'em last night, 12/22... and now it looks as it does in the picture above. Yuck!

Belly button in or out? In... ? It's awkward-looking.

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or moody most of the time? Moody, I guess. Cristhian and I are finally paid off our credit cards! We've done without A LOT in order to do so... and it's tough to be so strict during the holidays. It's ok because 2015 will be a fruitful year!

Looking forward to: Christmas in Connecticut! Cristhian and I actually really, really miss West Hartford... but I guess Norwich is ok. Hahaha!

Review: Bio-Oil

You can find Bio-Oil at drug stores like CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Target, etc. In other words, if you ever run out of Bio-Oil, you can easily find it at every corner. At stores, I've only seen the 2 oz, ~$10, and 6.7 oz, ~$20, bottles. Per Amazon: "Bio-Oil is a specialist moisturizing oil that helps improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks, uneven skin tone, aging and dehydrated skin."

I bought this specifically because I've heard that Bio-Oil is the product you're supposed to buy in order to reduce the appearance of stretch marks and scars... and when I bought this 6.7 oz bottle, I was newly pregnant. So I wanted to see if the scars on my bum would lessen and ultimately limit the amount of stretch marks Lamby gave me.

The bottle is actually pretty user-friendly. Although the product itself is extremely oily (it feels like you're lathering olive or grape seed oil all over- the consistency is different from corn or vegetable oil!) and is capable of getting into every nook and crevice... it just doesn't. The "spout" (can I call it that? haha!) prevents any unnecessary spills- even if it's tipped over to its side. Nice!

After my evening shower, I lather the oil all over my breasts, triceps, abdomen, lower back, thighs and butt... I'm actually crazy- I top the oil with an extra layer of stretch mark fighting power: I lather a generous amount of cocoa butter to "seal" the goodness in. Needless to say, these body parts are so extremely well moisturized compared to the rest of my body (which I moisturize using Vaseline's Aloe Fresh Hydrating Body Lotion... which is perfect for spring/summer, but I seriously need something more hydrating for these harsh, dry New England months!). Even when I wake up in the morning, I still very well-moisturized- like a layer of beeswax over my body.

My 6.7 oz bottle of Bio-Oil has lasted me from July through November. So I don't think you can go wrong when you're looking for a budget-friendly option to help dissipate your scars. Moreover, although I can't say whether or not this can prevent stretch marks due to pregnancy (as I haven't gotten any visible to the naked eye... yet), I can say that it did nothing for my butt stretch marks (I've had 'em since I was 8-9 due to puberty).

  • easily accessible
  • dummy-proof
  • affordable
  • moisturizing

Would I repurchase this? No! I don't think it's worth the money.

Pregnancy Clothing Haul

I knew I was pregnant very, very early on... but didn't "confirm" it until mid to late summer. Add the fact that I didn't pop a belly until nearly six months pregnant, I tried SO hard not to buy things in relation to my changing body. Well, I look back at my pictures and I hear comments from my relatives... and I wasn't so cute.

Through the course of the week, I bought a few things that I've decided were essential.

Jessica Simpson Secret Fit Belly® 5 Pocket Skinny Leg Maternity Jeans | Fade To Blue Petite Secret Fit Belly® Slim Fit Skinny Leg Maternity Jeans

GAP 1969 Elastic Insert Always Skinny Moto Jean

GAP Oversized Sweater

Do you have any suggestions as to what one needs during pregnancy?

Pregnancy Update: 25 Weeks

25w 1d

How far along? 25 weeks (I do these a week behind as a recap of the previous week, so I'm actually 26 weeks today.)

Total weight gain/loss: -0.1 lbs putting me at 133.3 lbs! This makes me feel better! I don't want to lose weight, but I have to find a way to maintain this weight for as long as I can until my third trimester! At 133, I'm currently 3-5 lbs over my targeted gain rate...

Maternity clothes: Hell yeah! I actually bought a few pairs of clothing this past weekend. I have a few more things to buy, so I'll be sharing them in an upcoming haul.

Stretch marks? None yet, but every crease caused by my shirt or pant wrecks me!

Sleep: Jawbone Up24 says I'm averaging 7.5 hours of sleep... but 2/3 of that is "light sleep" vs "deep sleep." It's the exact opposite of my sleeping habit pre-pregnancy. Thanks for waking me up throughout the night, Lamby!

Best moment this week: I passed my glucose test scoring 102/130! I was WICKED nervous due to the fact that nearly every maternal and paternal cousin failed her 1- and 3- hour test. My directions were to eat as I normally would right until I drank the orange mess... I'm WICKED elated though! I've been celebrating with cake, cookies and ice cream! Mwhahaha!

Worst moment of the week: Realizing 1 mile, or 2000ish steps, of basic errand running makes me immobile because of the disarray it causes my pelvic bone kills me!

Miss anything? I miss my 5-8 mile jogs 2-3x a week. Seriously.

Movement: Lamby is SOOOO active! Sweet things don't cause movement, but random noise from the world do!

Food cravings: Nothing!

Anything making you queasy or sick: The smell of meat cooking isn't very pleasant, but I don't hurl to a garbage can or anything like that.

25w 1d

Have you started to show yet: YESSS! I also got my first unsolicited random belly rub this weekend. "You're SO small!" was what the lady beamed... Well, thank you?

Gender Prediciton: Holy nutter butter! 17 days until the shower!

Labor signs: None, but these BH are a bitch! Paired with my pelvic pain, I CANNOT walk!

Symptoms: I have this one zit on my face... it's SO annoying! Also, my skin's been dryer lately... is it pregnancy or is it due to 25*F weather? Pelvic, rib and back pain are the biggest pains in my ass!

Belly button in or out? In, but it's very, very oddly shaped.

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or moody most of the time? Ehh. I'm sad, but that's due to Yeay Pong's passing.

Looking forward to: My chiropractor visit and my upcoming ultrasound!

A Christmas Party with Family

It's been a nutty week at the Yellow Paneled House. My room looks like a tornado's been through it. My cats and my dog are ratchet and are in desperate need of a bath. My husband got a hair and beard-cut reminiscent of hispanic novelas. My body is crippling with pain, granting me unable to walk, which ultimately puts me at constant physical rest. So my mind races with boredom and there's only so much I can plan for!

Welps, aside from that, the week's been decent overall. On Friday, Cristhian and I attended a work party (, which consequently employs much of my paternal family members and one maternal family member). It was our first work party in a loooong time- it was a nice change of pace! We weren't able to get "prettied" up for our anniversary due to circumstances- so the last time we got fancy was for a wedding in August.

Sorry for the blurriness. My camera was being temperamental... Argh!

Have you been to any Christmas parties yet?!
