TIU: No Excuses October & Goals

If you're unaware of my struggle with fitness/weight, you can read about it here and here. Otherwise, please read on! :)

Last September, I found out about the Tone It Up! through one of my favorite bloggers, Veronika of Veronika's Blushing. Then on, I followed Karena & Katrina's, the TIU Girls, work out videos on Youtube. K&K's positive attitudes motivate me to push myself harder. I've grown to love Tone It Up! and what it stands for. TIU is a true community of kind, like-minded women who are genuine in their efforts to help one another. I love that so many women are dedicated to helping one another in their fitness/health goals.


I got TIU's e-mail late last night which issued this month's workout calendar. (The image is a link!) Yesterday's check-in mission (that's what I like to call them, haha) was to write about this month's goals and to reflect on the season's overall goals (more on that later).

October Goals:
  • limit processed foods!
  • increase consumption of dark, leafy greens
  • limit sugars
  • lose 5 lbs

I've got a belly! (And don't mind the splotches on my mirror...)

I'm a petite Asian woman, (I'm not even 5' tall; I'm actually 4'11-3/4"!) and MY body is equal in proportion (my torso is equal in shape to my legs- boo!). I have an athletic build- I don't have an itty bitty torso or long legs like my sister.

I'm kicking off the month by doing the 7 Day Slim Down with Cristhian. Woot! My overall meal plan for the month is to juice a veggie concoction (kale, spinach, chard, apple, lemon and ginger) for the mornings I don't have coffee, eat a big salad for lunch, snack on plenty of fruits, veggies or nuts and try to mix up dinner (living in an ethnic household holds its challenges) with leaner, cleaner meals. And I'm sure most Americans have the same problem with sugar that I do- I just can't get enough. Thanks to K&K, I've recently switched over from traditional sugar to Stevia. And although I won't be cutting off sugar entirely, I'll be limiting what sugars I do put in my body. Hopefully this will be the push my body needs to drop another 5 lbs!

Autumn Goals:
  • eat cleaner and healthier
  • eat less sugars
  • lose 10 lbs by Thanksgiving
I'm going to continue to eat clean for the remainder of fall. I'll try my best once Thanksgiving (and later on Christmas and New Year's) hits!! And honestly, I'm 100% positive that sugar will be the death of me. Hopefully I'll be able to fight off the midnight sugar urge! By winter time, if (and when!!) I reach my goal, I'm going to make a greater effort to tone up. Gotta look extra purdy for The Big Day 'nd all! Maybe when I hit my ideal weight, I'll be able to pull off the illusion of long legs.
