Motivation Monday: Gym Me!

SO many people claim they want to lose weight. SO many people barely lift a finger or get their butts in gear to their local gym. SO many people just refuse to move. To be honest, I'm one of them. There are times when I just don't feel like moving. I feel down and I just want the results. I'm not overweight- I'm actually in the normal range for my height, but I don't want to be the skinny fat girl anymore. I've had a gut all my life and I'm sick of it! My goal is a flat tummy with minimal flab. I want to be lean and toned!

Cristhian and I will be joining a local gym this month. We hope to hit the gym at least 3-4x a week. We plan on attending the aqua aerobics class, Zumba, Latin fitness and maybe the spinning class. Plus we'll take advantage of the spa and the pool, as well! I promise that you will definitely notice a difference in the upcoming months. I will NOT take no for an answer.

What do you do to keep yourself motivated?

My Week in Pictures #5

This week's batch of pictures carry on with my theme of... pets and food! I just love my kids. Hehe. I'm trying to remember to take pictures of my meals. That way, I can document my fitness journey. Enjoy this week's shots!

Z&K have been spending so much time together. Have they finally learned to love one another?

Organic peas & avocado (with sriracha drizzled on top) and lemon & herb haddock! YUM!!

My favorite buy of the week are my kitchen sleeves from H-Mart. Aren't they cute?!

I've been loving TIU's Slim Down Scramble and grapefruit with some Truvia sprinkled on top. Yum!

It was really chilly last week! Snuck a shot of Kuro snuggling with my robe.

I'll try to remember to take more pics of things I do on an everyday basis- like catching a pic for an OOTD of some sorts, more meal shots, etc.

Do you have any suggestions for types of pictures you'd like to see?

Spotlight: Tiffany of Girls' Generation's Makeup

I've decided to do a segment on celebrities whose makeup and physiques I am in love with. It's motivation for looking my best professionally and for special occasions, as well as getting into shape!

My first celebrity is Stephanie "Tiffany" Hwang of Girls' Generation, or SNSD. Tiffany is one of my favorite members of the group. She actually speaks English and is from the same part of California that I'm from! Tiffany's physical appearance has changed A LOT since her debut. She started out completely natural-looking with minimal makeup. More recently, she's been able to experiment with her look. Her face is still very pale with barely-there blush, but her eyes are totally dramatic! No matter what her outward appearance is like, her makeup is beautifully done.

Her eye makeup and overall look is adorable and edgy. Win-win! Love it!

Images are not owned by me. I found them all over Google.

Haul: Sephora Friends & Family Sale

The Sephora Friends & Family sale was a bit of a global dud this year. I had to call my local Sephora and ask what was going to be done about it. Lo and behold, they were holding a F&F Sale and all I had to do was mention that I wanted the discount. So all of you in the central Connecticut area, go to Westfarms in Farmington and tell them you want the F&F discount!

I didn't go too crazy. I was going to buy concealer, but felt that I needed more time to play around with the samples I had. I'm continuing my tests and will come back with my results. And I did end up buying the gifts I mentioned, so I'll do without posting those! (That, and they're already wrapped. Haha.)

Lancôme Teint Idôle Ultra 24 HR in 410 Bisque(W)

I gave in and finally bought a foundation! I've been using the sample by the MUA for monthsssss. I was torn between 320 and 410- since both matched me SO well. 320 melted into my jaw and neckline, but I decided to go with 410 because it matched the darker areas of my body and gave me a bronze/tan look. I love pretty much everything about it! (Stay tuned for a review!) And about the box? Ehhh... the box is ugly, but that was all they had left in that color! Boo!

Origins VitaZing SPF 15

Between the two of us, Cristhian and I used up the sample from the MUA very quickly! He loved that it covered up his redness and I loved that it made my complexion even. Win-win!

Did you get anything good during the F&F Sale?

I found today's Friday Funny on 9Gag once again!

Haul: CVS, Sephora & Ulta

I try to buy things in moderation, but sometimes when I see a great deal, I can't pass it up! I especially love to shop sales in coordination with coupons. It's almost like a rush! I've been meaning to post a haul since August… oh well. Here it is now. I bought a couple of things over the last couple of months that has amassed onto a neat little corner.

Revlon 3D Extreme Mascara, L'oreal Carbon Black Lineur Intense Liner, L'oreal H.I.P. Eye Shadow Duos, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color, Seche Vite Dry Top Coat

At CVS, I spent under $20 for all of this (and man stuff that's not shown) with sales, clearances and coupons! The mascara and liner were each under $2. The eye shadow duos, in "318 Flashy," #236 Forgiving" and "919 Romantic," and nail polish, in "32 Pink Boa," were each under $1. The only thing that was regularly priced was the top coat which was under $10.

Disney by Sephora Collection Cinderella Compact Mirror, Tokidoki Eye Shadows

I was eyeing the compact mirror since I saw it online. When I called my local Sephora, they weren't putting it up for display 'til the end of the month. Boo. But when I saw it at another somewhat local Sephora, they had it up and I HAD to buy it! HAD TO! I ended up getting two (one for myself and one as a gift). I got the Tokidoki palettes in "24 Karat" and "Lion Pappa" to give as a grab bag gift to a family member.

Basically U Wedges, Cover Girl Eye Shadow Quad, LashBlast 24hr Mascara, NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil, LashBlast Fusion Mascara

At Ulta, I bought a package of wedges, two mascaras, a GG eye shadow quad in "#274 Fairytale" and a jumbo eye pencil in "#605 Strawberry Milk". LOOOVE! I got such a good deal on everything, too!

Have you hauled anything good?

TIU: Day 2 & Day 3

I actually started the 7DSD yesterday and I was doing so well... until Cristhian surprised me with Bertucci's as a pre-anniversary gesture. BOO!! He got me off track, but I'll forgive him. Hehe.

Five Layer Chocolate Cake

Instead of doing the 7DSD like I originally planned, I'll just follow the maintenance plan. I'm at my "normal" range (116 lb at the moment), so I figure it's ok. I want to meet my October Goal!! Hopefully I'll be able to start the 5DSD on Monday.

I don't have pictures of what I ate today other than my lunch (pre-Insanity) and dinner.

Organic rotini in organic TJ's spaghetti sauce, topped with turkey bacon, mushrooms, onions and garlic!

BC: Insanity workout
M1: Meta-D drink and coffee (2 packets of Truvia with Coffee Mate FV creamer) + 25 oz of water
M2: None. Too busy!
M3: Leftover penne pasta with (2 strips) turkey bacon, mushrooms, onions & sun dried tomatoes + 40 oz of water
M4: None. Too busy!
M5: Collard Green Wrap with chicken, (1/2- It was going bad. I'd rather eat it than let it go to waste...) avocado, tomato & onion with Sriracha drizzled on top + 25 oz of water
WO: Insanity workout (I missed two days... so I gotta make it up!)

Note: Per K&K's advice, I'm supposed to drink 57 oz of water. But today, I drank over 90 oz!! I had to pee almost three times every hour!

My Week in Pictures #4

Although this post is a little late, I didn't do much of anything interesting. This is it for last week's batch of pictures!

Isn't Zorro handsome?! He was even offered a modeling gig.

Traditional HK Maboru (with tofu and ground beef) soup with sauteed peas and fresh tomatoes!

I saw this at the Sephora store, I HAD to get it!!

Otie and Kuro have been so loving lately.

Zorro needed a bath... Poor Zozo!

Sorry this post mainly consists of animals- they're my pride and joy!!

Have you done anything awesome this week?!

Intro: Foundation Search

I've been on the hunt for my Holy Grail foundation. Like most people, I have things I need to cover- hyper-pigmentation, acne and scars. I don't want to paint my skin with thick, heavy liquid and I don't want to swipe dust on my face. More importantly, I don't want to look pale, dull or dead. Is it so hard to ask the cosmetic world for a foundation formula that is long-lasting, matches my skin tone & undertone and looks natural?!

A little about my skin type- my face is normal, but a touch dry in my chin area. As the day goes on, my forehead gets a little shiny. My face is also acne-prone. It's really finicky about what I can and cannot apply as it'll flare up with most products. In short, I have normal/combination and acne-prone skin.

My face- sans makeup. Circa 2009.

My requirements are:
  • matches my skin tone (undertones 'nd all!)
  • medium to full coverage
  • long-wearing
  • photographs well
  • doesn't break me out
  • controls oil
  • doesn't emphasize dry patches
I apply powder foundation one of two ways: my Sigma F30 (Mr. Bunny ver.) or my Sigma F84. For everyday-wear, I swipe the F30 over the product, then buff it into my skin in circular motions. If I want more coverage, I press the F84 into the product and then press it onto my skin. In regards to liquid foundation, I apply it one of three ways: with my (clean) finger tips, my Sigma F50, or my Sigma F82. I pump a nickel's worth of product onto my hand and dot the product where needed (usually one on each cheek, one on my chin and two dots on either side of my forehead).
Do you have a Holy Grail foundation?

Sephora Friends & Family Sale

I had so much junk (makeup, skincare, etc) accumulating in my vanity. Eager to use up or give away the things I had, I have been on a no-buying sprint since the start of the summer. Since coming back from the west, I've been testing out and sampling so many things from Sephora. I absolutely cannot wait to place my order for the Sephora Friends & Family 20% Off Sale!! It runs from Oct. 18-31 and I'm ready to do some damage!

I may add a few more things come mid-October, but this is what I'm starting out with!
What's on your Sephora F&F Wish List?

My Week in Pictures #3

Top Left: Beef with Broccoli, Top Right: Crispy Honey Chicken, Bottom Left: Crispy Honey Shrimp and Bottom Right: Sweet & Sour Pork

Over the weekend, we were visited by my best friend and her boyfriend. We were at the local mall and decided to eat an early supper at P.F. Chang's since none of us had ever eaten at a "fancy Chinese joint." Each couple ordered the Prixe Menu for Two. The ambience, service and food was just so-so. Booo!

Otie being silly.

Caught them in bed! ;o)

I bought a Living Social coupon for a local Mexican joint, Taqueria Tavern (which is directly next door to Plan B!). The weather was absolutely horrible and parking was a nightmare, but the food and service were pretty good!

Like father, like son!

Zorro posin' all sexy.
