What's In My Travel Bag? (Makeup, skincare, etc)

Traveling is a common, weekly occurrence in my household. I'm always out and about somewhere. Sometimes my trips are planned, other times they're spur of the moment. For instance, you can find me in MA/NH and Boston area on any given weekend- usually always planned. This past summer, I was all over the mid-west and west coast and made sooo many unnecessary stops- definitely unplanned. That said, ensuring that I have every. single. thing. I need is my number one priority (after safety!) while traveling. Without my go-to products bad things will happen. Trust.

I can pack everything I need (whether it's a three week stay in CA, one week stay in OH or a two night stay in MA) in a TSA-approved 15"x18" duffel! Also, I always make sure that my toiletries/skincare/makeup is securely tucked away in its own weekender.

I don't fuss too much over my hair when I'm traveling. I blow dry it straight whenever I wash my hair so it usually ends up wavy, but manageable with products.

  • Salon Grafix Invisible Dry Spray Shampoo
  • Alterna Bamboo Smooth Anti-Humidity Hair Spray
  • Alterna Caviar Styling Lotion
  • L'oreal Elnett Extra Strong Hold Hairspray
My skin care routine is sacred. I use specific products and apply them in certain ways to ensure my skin's in tip-top shape. Below are items that are absolutely necessary and some that I'm trying out (trial sized products).

I go for a basic look every day and only switch it up from time to time. I know I use a lot of products, but trust me- it really doesn't look like much at all, in person or in photos!

  • Make Up Forever Full Cover Concealer in #10 Golden Beige (not shown)
  • Make Up Forever Duo Mat Powder #207
  • Boscia Blotting Sheets
  • Mr. Bunny Travel Set
  • Bare Escentuals Powder Brush
  • CVS Essentials of Beauty Crease Brush and Flat Brush
  • Anastasia Mini Duo Angled/Spooley 7
In terms of clothing, my rule of thumb: I try to bring one day outfit and one set of PJs for every night I'll be away. Plus I try to bring one pretty outfit (for nice dinners and such) and maybe one 'clubbing' outfit if a night-out is planned. This weekend, I'll be leaving for MA Saturday afternoon, so I'll only need one set of PJs (bottom left) and one day outfit, plus one just in case! Easy-peasy!
Do you have any must-have travel items?

Friday Funny #1: Two Trips are for Pansies

To spice things up a bit, I've decided to do a weekly (hopefully!) post. Starting with this one. Friday funny.

I found it on CMae's blog! It made me chuckle! It is so Cristhian!

Weight Loss Update

If you're new to my weight/fitness updates, you can read about it here!

I dropped down to 115 lbs (my high school weight!!) before my vacation out west. Needless to say, while on vacation, I wasn't too strict with myself, indulging here and there. I was too ashamed to weigh myself, but was "happy" to find that I only gained four pounds total!

Rockin' my McDonald's soda- don't be jelly!

Many draining things were going on during the end of summer. So much so that I wasn't able to work out or eat as well as I'd liked. I'm happy to say that things will be slowing down in October. I'll be able to working out again! I started the Insanity challenge in August (while I had two free weeks) and was faithfully following the workout regimen. I loved working out and I haven't felt so energized and tired!

Compared to last year, I can say that I eat 100% better. I've upped my fruit and veggie servings and significantly lowered my sugar intake. Although I'm back to my high school weight, I'd like to lose a bit more. Y'know, I'd love to lose the rolls around my belly. So, I bought the Tone It Up Nutrition System. I got it a while ago, but because I've been so busy these past few months, I haven't been able to put it into use! Well, the month's almost over and we're going to kick it into gear!!

I wanted to kick start my diet once again, but felt that there was too much going on for me to fully commit myself. So I'm focusing on eating clean (organic, healthy and as much raw foods as possible!). The month of August is going to be a little crazy for my little family. For example, the first week of August was occupied by my beautiful cousin's lovely wedding. Next week, Amanda and I will be venturing down to the Atlanta-area for 2/3 of the week. And the final week of August will be consumed by Cristhian's surgery! I'm a busy, busy bee!

For now, I can only do the best I can. I'm starting the Insanity Challenge with Amanda and her boyfriend. I'm eating as well as I can, per the TIU diet! By September, I hope to fully commit myself to eating well and working out!

My clothes fit so much better now!

Mini Haul: Sephora

This summer, I've been really curbing my urge to spend. Total. Mind. Control. I went out west for over a month and didn't buy anything memorable for myself. So to reward myself, I did a bit of shopping.

I've been using the Clarisonic Plus since last June and it is definitely my HG exfoliation product! I usually use the sensitive brush head, but I saw the Clarisonic Replacement Brush Head Acne Twin-Pack and had to try it!

I've been eyeing MUFE's Mat Velvet+ since October '11. And I've been itching to try it after MakeupByTiffanyD's rave in her April Spring/Summer Foundation routine. Anyway... At the store, I really liked the way the foundation looked. So I bit the bullet and bought it! For reference, I'm a NC35 in MAC Studio Fix Fluid (although it's not perfectly matched to my skin- it's too pink!) and I was matched to #35 Vanilla.
