Drama: Greatest Love and King 2 Hearts

Oh, dramas. You move and annoy me all too easily. You make me laugh and cry with simple scenes. You make me forget the outside world for the hour that you're on! Don't know what I mean? Ask the thousands, maybe even millions of people that watch daytime soaps. There's a cult, a fan following and Asia is no different with our dramas!

Since coming back home, I've been watching as many dramas as possible. And I've since decided to make mini reviews of the dramas from here on out.

Title: The Greatest Love
Genre: Romance, Comedy
Episodes: 16
Run: May 4, 2011 through June 23, 2011
Synopsis: A romantic comedy about a former star singer named Koo Ae-jeong who finds herself entangled in a relationship with Dokgo Jin, the biggest celebrity in the country.
Review: I really, really liked the first half of this series. Really liked it. It was believable, quirky and good-humored. The hot-shot actor was a cocky ass and the deadbeat actress was simple. I found the drama surrounding the main couple to be half-hearted and weak, but whatevs (the Treasure Girls' manager vs Ae Jung, for instance). I guess that's what makes Korean culture so different than that of my own Western mindset. I also found that the supporting characters were memorable in their own weird way. But surely, the second-half of the drama got boring. Ehh.

Title: The King 2 Hearts
Genre: Romance
Episodes: 20
Run: March 21, 2012 through May 24, 2012
Synopsis: This drama is set in modern day where South Korea is governed by a constitutional monarchy. Lee Jae Ha is a handsome and materialistic crown prince that doesn't care about politics. He falls for Kim Hang Ah, a North Korean special forces agent.
Review: In the past, I've really liked dramas similar to this, but I couldn't find myself getting wrapped up in 'King 2 Hearts'. To me, it's just too unbelievable. I could go on and on, but just to list a couple: Kim Bong-gu spoke Korean, but his lackeys spoke in their respective languages (but didn't understand others speaking Korean?!), Kim Bong-gu supposedly lived state-side, yet speaks horrible English, Club M... -o-' I don't believe it. Give me a break! I also found the show's take on America to be extremely irritating- in ALL aspects. I know we may seem haughty politically, but not all Americans are like that.

Long Weekend in Vegas

While driving back to Ohio, we made a spur-of-the-moment stop into Vegas. It was fun! We walked around the Strip and went to some touristy spots!

Sokvy & Polo's Wedding

My cousin's wedding was well-spaced out in two days. They were married on Friday morning and partied hard Saturday night. She (, her groom and bridal party) had seven (plus her wedding dress) incredible wardrobe changes throughout both days! She's totally awesome (and crazy, hehe) for attempting such a feat! I'm only planning on three Khmer outfits, one cheong sam and one western dress myself.

Presentation of foods for the first ceremony.

The wedding party after 1 1/2 hours of sitting/standing!

This outfit is one of my favorites of the two days!

The purple outfits!

Ming Jenny, Ming Leeda and the kiddies.

Suon Family!!

Look at that bow! :D

Thanks for inviting us to your wedding couz! See you on the East for my wedding! ;o)
